Making a modded minecraft world with friends

I want to make a Modded survival world for me and my friends but I’m not sure which edition I should get or which deployment to use (Standalone, Controller, Target or Hybrid).
At most there’s gonna be probably about 4-6 players on line at a time so not a load but enough to the point that the standard edition isnt enough. I think the Professional edition would be enough for us but I’d just like to make sure that I wont need the Advanced one. My friends will often times be online without me and sometimes they’ll be on all by themselves, just one person in the world. I see in the Advanced edition it says “single sign-on” does that mean that in the Pro edition they wouldn’t be able to log on to the world by themselves?
Next I was wondering about the deployments I have no clue about these but one of my friends told me that for the stand alone option my PC would need to be on for them to log on, ergo I would need my PC on 24/7 so i just wanted to check if they were talking nonsense or if they’re going to save my energy bill.
Sorry for being so clueless, any help would be massively appreciated and if you need more details about what we’re gonna be doing I can provide them as I only said what I thought would be useful.
Thanks

You don’t need SSO for users to have an account they can use to log in.
The computer needs to be on for as long as you want AMP and the MC server to be running (which in some cases is 24/7).
You’d select Standalone, since you’re not setting up a mult-machine deployment.

In terms of getting the modded MC server set up:

And for setting up user permissions see:
https://discourse.cubecoders.com/t/managing-user-permissions-in-amp/2301
(If you meant them joining the game server, that would be unrelated to users in-AMP)

And finally, if you want the web interface to be accessible externally, consider setting up HTTPS to make the web page secure:

Ok thanks a million, I just have one more question. Would you recommend getting a second mini PC to host the server on? Cos I feel like this is gonna use a lot of resources when its running and I also want to be able to play other games while having the server online for my friends.
Ok thank you, i’m going to have a look through all of that tomorrow and see if I can make sense of it haha. I’ll likely be back with more questions tho…

That sorta depends on how much RAM+CPU the games you play use and how much the modded server would end up using. You can always set things up this way to see how things go, then make a decision to use a mini-PC later on if that seems like a better bet.

Questions are always good, it’s how you learn lol.
