I am not able to create new users

Product Name/Version: AMP - 2.4.6.6 - 20231005.1

Problem Description:
I am unable to create new users for managing a server.
I currently have 3 users, including the admin user.
I started out with the AMP Standard license, but quickly realized that it was not adequate, so I upgraded to AMP Advanced.

I am pretty sure I used the correct upgrade method: Configuration → New Instance Defaults → Re-run setup.

When I try to add a new user, I go to the Configuration → User Management → New User.
I enter a user name and click Ok.
The dialog closes but nothing more happens.

The Audit Log has this to show:

Steps to reproduce:

To be perfectly honest, I simply don’t know what to write here.

Actions taken to resolve so far:

  • Restarted AMP several times.
  • Restarted server instances several time.
  • Trying adding different users.

I have not tried re-running setup or re-installing, as I have a couple of live servers which I don’t want to disrupt if it can be avoided.

Go to configuration > new instance defaults > re-run setup and re-enter your Professional licence key.

It did not do anything. I even got the license to resend so I was sure, it was the right one.

What I did:

  1. Stopped all instances.
  2. Went to Configuration->New Instance Defaults and clicked Re-run setup.
  3. Entered the license key.
  4. Went through the wizard.
  5. Restarted AMP.
  6. Tried creating a user. No luck.
  7. Inserted the license key in the Configuration->New Instance Defaults->License Key and clicked Reactivate Local Instances.
  8. Tried creating a new user. No luck.

I just noticed you’re on an outdated version of AMP. Update first please.

I seem to be unable to update?

I’ve run the yellow-orange Update from the front-page.
I’ve run it from Support and Updates.

I’ve stopped the instances and I’ve let the instances run.
But no matter, it will not update…

What gives?

EDIT: I was able to update all my instances, except the main instance.
That one refuses to cooperate.

I got all instances updated.
I have re-run setup again.
But I am still not able to create new users.

Is ampinstmgr itself up-to-date? Check with ampinstmgr version

No, I just realized that. All instances are 2.4.6.10, but the ampinstmgr itself is still 2.4.6.6.

I found this: How to update AMP to the latest version

So, I downloaded the latest msi and ran it (no upgrade option, btw.).
So now my ampinstmgr is 2.4.6.10, but I get the same error :frowning:

It is still the same. I have followed the instructions to the letter.
But I am not able to create a new user beyond the 3 I already have, including admin.

Am I looking at a complete wipe and reinstallation?

Having done that you need to do ampinstmgr reactivate ADS01 again.

I did that. It changed nothing. I am still not able to create new users :frowning:

What message/error do you get? Also do the logs show that AMP is activated?

That’s the thing. I don’t get any message or errors. The dialog for entering the user name just closes when I have entered the name and clicks OK.

In the Audit Log I can see this:
