Error 429 (Too Many Requests) always i try to start the server

Problem Description:

Every time i start the server AMP try to update Arma 3 and after that i receive this error: Error 429 (Too Many Requests).

Steps to reproduce:

  • Press Start Button
  • AMP try to update Arma 3 server
  • AMP fail and server don’t start

Actions taken to resolve so far:

I tried to change DNS to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4
I tried to reintall Linux and AMP

Extra: The problem is not on steamCMD update, but after that, see log bellow.

I’m losing my players, can you fix that please?
Sadly i have no option other than use AMP.
But hope is not lost, i’m trying right now TCAdmin.
And i hope i can trow this shit to the trash bin.
I pay for a game VPS that comes with AMP but i will unistall it and install TCAdmin…
… LOL, how ridiculous.
I’m just sad because i found that AMP is not the only possibilitie just now, lost so many hair tuffs with this shit.

The error you’re seeing isn’t a fault of AMP’s. It’s saying you’re requesting updates too often, likely from GitHub if I had to guess. Do you have a schedule setup or some other script querying it often? Usually you have to request a ton each hour to trigger that

It started today.

I have the same problem... the instance is asking to update ARMA3 all the time. It only starts working again after I restart the AMP instance.

I believe it’s not steamCMD generating the 429 error, it’s something after it. You can see that at the second part of the log.

Since all i run is a simple multiplayer mission, no MySQL, no script, no complicated configuration, no nothing, just a PBO mission, i restart each 6 or 8 hours.

I do nothing that try to do something 1000 times a second or like.

Some days ago it just started to get stuck on restart with 429 error.

I can run Arma 3 update, the server update, but after that, when it try to start, the 429 error happens.

I tried TCAdmin but it’s too much complicated, my server just died since i can’t even start it (sometimes it works, until the next restart comes), like you said, it’s my fault, AMP is perfect whe all know, so i don’t mind anymore. Ban me and go to hell, idiots.

That was out of nowhere. If you want help I’m willing to help figure it out. You didn’t answer my original question though. How do you have the schedule setup? Show a screenshot. Give us something to work with rather than name calling. When I say it’s not AMP’s fault, I’m referring to the fact AMP itself isn’t giving the error, it’s most likely from a request to GitHub and their API limit that’s getting triggered.

Another (less obnoxious) user has worked out that it seems to be a GitHub issue specifically affecting Brazil (and maybe broader South America): Error: Response status code does not indicate success: 429 (Too Many Requests)
