Problem Description
Issue
When starting my ARK server for the first time, the automatic update process fails despite reaching near-completion. The log shows:
Update verification reaches 94-99% before restarting
Multiple IPC timeout warnings (68-272 msec delays)
Final “Success” message followed by immediate shutdown
Manual update attempts produce identical results
20:56:24 Update state (0x1) running, progress: 0.00 (0 / 0)
20:56:33 Success! App '376030' fully installed.
20:56:34 Unloading Steam API...OK
Reproduction Steps
- Launch ARK Server for the first time: Server automatically begins updating with default settings
- Observe update process: Update progresses to ~99% verification, then restarts download, “IPC function call” timeout errors appear in log
- Attempt manual update-then-launch: Update completes with “Success! App fully installed” message, Server immediately closes with “Unloading Steam API…OK”
