Problem Description

Issue

Server is not starting all of a sudden (ark game on steam had an update, could it be the cause?), pressing the start button leads to it doing the “Update” steps of redownloading the server files and then not starting.

Reproduction Steps

  • Press “Start”
  • Wait for “Updating”/“Installing components” to finish
  • Server goes back to “Stopped” state and doesn’t launch

Yes, the ark devs borked the update on steam

This has been discussed before in this forum and on discord

Apologies as I’ve never posted on this forum nor am I in the discord, and I’m new to AMP. I run a couple of game servers for my brother and his friends and he told me that the server stopped working which is why I submitted a support request through the AMP interface.

So it’s the fault of the devs and we have to wait until they fix it and update the game so we can run our servers again T-T

Thanks for the response!

You can select the Pre-Aquatica branch in AMP, and install and run that

Oh thanks for the tip! Can you tell me what option I need to change to switch branches?

If you search “branch” in the instance, you will find the setting. If Pre-Aquatica isn’t an option, Return to Instances, and click on the down arrow on your instance to update its config

Thanks a lot! It works now, and I’ll check in a week if the public branch is fixed or not. But until then the server is at least operational finally.

Thank you for your help!
