Trying to import and existing prominance 2 server but unable to do so

OS Name/Version: Ubuntu Server (24.04.2)

Product Name/Version: Minecraft Java ( 1.20.1 ) (Fabric) (Prominance 2 v3.1.7)

Problem Description:
I have a existing prominance 2 server that I have been running on my windows desktop and I just made a physical server that I wanted to transfer to to host this server. That system uses the ubuntu server os and I’m using AMP with that. However, when I try and import my zipped server files, I am unable to unzip them in the file manager. Around 10% in, I get a “Unable to extract to Archive” error. New to server and things so step by step solutions would be much appreciated!

Steps to reproduce:

  • Step 1 : Made an instance of Minecraft Java edition
  • Step 2 : Configure to be a fabric server for 1.20.1
  • Step 3 : Run it once to generate .jar file
  • Step 4 : zip existing prominance 2 server as a whole
  • Step 5 : Imported the zip file into file manager and attempt to extract
  • Step 6 : 10% in get an error message on being unable to extract file

Actions taken to resolve so far:
Importing the base server without any setup.
Just importing the data files individually.
Running the setup for linux on my windows and fail haha.

Try uploading the zip over SFTP instead.
There’s also a guide here, but instead of grabbing the zip off CurseForge, you’d follow the guide using the zip you uploaded over SFTP.

Thank you so much! It worked. I didn’t know how my google-ing not show that step by step. Apparently, it was a problem with the name of the zip? When I changed the long name to just server.zip, it automatically removed all the files inside the zip to the file manager.

Oh weird, I’ll have to suggest that to other people in the future.
Mind sharing the name of the original zip? Just in case it’s some obvious text-processing issue on AMP’s side.

Ah sorry for the late reply, the file name was the default file name that was given by prominence which is “Prominence_II_RPG_Hasturian_Era_Server_Pack.zip”. My assumption is that it was probably too long of a string and maybe? hit some kind of character limit when extracting.

Yeah that’s a bit odd, thanks for the info!

I am having the same issue, I tried following this but I still seem to be encountering the same error even after following the guides. Any idea what could be going on? Using same ubuntu server, but I am trying to transfer from bisect server hosting.

Make your own post please

Hi if you don’t mind me answering.

I just tried out again and notice that it wasn’t a string issue, rather, if I try to extract within the AMP dashboard, it just doesn’t work for some reason. Instead, just rename the file from within WinSCP in the directory you imported into and somehow all the files in that zip file just comes out.

Note: when zipping the server file, do it from directory with the server.jar
