Terraria console can not send commands

Problem Description

Issue

This is exactly this same issue Terraria cannot use command

I have enabled Console Passthrough then restarted the instance, I have checked the logs, my commands are “sent” but inside ticks like this:

admin Jan 25, 11:05 PM API LogLevels.Activity Sent to console: /help
admin Jan 25, 11:05 PM API LogLevels.Activity Sent to console: help

I would greatly appreciate help in solving this.

Reproduction Steps

  • Successfully start Terraria server
  • Go to Instance → Console
  • Type in commands like help /help save /save
  • The expected result is to see a response after each valid command is typed.

Do you have tModLoader enabled? The base game doesn’t have a console that accepts commands.

Hey Mike, thanks for the quick reply.

No tModLoader, just vanilla Terraria, also, I just noticed that when creating an instance I get a message telling me that console commands won’t work unless I use Docker.

I don’t know if this means that console commands will work if I use Docker or if as you said, the base game does not support console commands at all.
