I’m having this EXACT problem as well.
Have you hit “Update” inside the instance so it downloads the server?
Is this an existing server or a newly installed server?
Yes, No different. I did try put Valheimplus in but then it only do the updatet and still cant start.
The update to AMP always just freeze, so everytime amp has an updatet i need to reinstall everything so yes this is a «new» installasion.
The “update freeze” you mention I always had that issue IF you try to update it through AMP’s UI (on window at least). The safest/best way to update AMP, and all instances, is if you use the terminal on the remote machine and use the command “ampinstmgr upgradeall” (without quotes).
Also, this thread should be pinned for anybody that comes here asking/troubleshooting updating AMP:

Updating the instance manager
Linux
On Linux, The AMP instance manager (ampinstmgr) is updated via your distributions package manager:
Ubuntu/Debian/deb-based
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
This will update all packages on your system. If you want to only update AMP then replace the second command with:
sudo apt upgrade ampinstmgr
CentOS/Fedora/Red Hat/rpm-based
sudo yum update
This will update all packages on your system. If you want to only update AMP then run:
sudo yum update am…
system
