Steps to reproduce:

• Create Instance
• Select Counter-Strike 2
• Click “Create Instance”
• It begins to acquire assets from Steam but fails on the above.

Actions taken to resolve so far:

I was originally running an older version of AMP (apologies I didn’t note the version I was coming from, but it was only at max 1 month old)

I tried deleting the instance and creating a new one with a different and simple ‘friendly name’ but same issue.

I found an AMPLOG file in the directory of this path. It looks to be claiming to be out of disk space, but I have 100’s of Gigabytes left on this disk.

However, I noticed the creation of the server spins up a docker image for the server to use. My theory is that the script that creates the server might not be allocating enough volume space for the server. I’m not sure how to change this behaviour, or expand what it creates.

As you can see for yourself, there is 6.1 terrabytes of space available.

OK, I pick the root partition, where is where instances are created by default. CS2 requires something like 60GB, since there is no separate server appid and so the whole game needs to be installed. Easily not enough space

What you are saying is correct - I was indeed not able to fit another 60GB on that root volume. The outcomes of which we can conclude:

1. The requirements for running this server could do with being clearer to the admin. Nowhere did it say it needed 60GB. Please take this as constructive feedback on a way to improve the product.
2. The error is correct in what it is saying, but a little more info would be good. In line with number 1.

On a personable level, while what you were saying is 100% correct (I was indeed running out of space on the root volume). The way you went about it, and the attitude you gave, leaves a lot to be desired. It was not helpful at all. I understand all too well that you would likely deal with many ‘fools’ like me during every given day. That’s no reason to pass on your frustrations. Do better.

The actual answer, for anyone else coming across this error is below. I leave this here to be helpful to others, instead of giving them a brick wall answer this mod gave me.

Solution:

If you are receiving this error, you are running out of disk space. One possible fix for this issue is to move the default AMP instance data store to another volume, and symlink to the new location. Here is the link that I found myself to help me resolve my issue:

Adding additional data storage locations (Recommended) As of AMP 2.4, you can add additional datastores. This is configured via the Datastores tab from the main menu. You can then select where instances are created either by picking a specific datastore from the create instance screen, or by changing the datastore priorities to make a preferred datastore the default. Changing the ‘Master’ datastore (Not Recommended) Generally speaking this is not recommended. On Linux and Windows this is best…

Another fix option would be to create another data store. In my case, I never intended it to be on my root drive, so moving it seems logical for my needs.
