First time user: Amp refuses to run

OS Name/Version: Windows 11 Pro 23H2

Product Name/Version: AMP Instance Manager 2.6.1.6

Problem Description:

Hi there! I’ve been trying to get AMP to work on my home server but it refuses to work. Everytime i try to boot anything up it doesn’t want to. The default ADS-01 doesn’t work, creating a new instance also doesn’t work. I’ve tried re-installing AMP multiple times, the ‘upgradeall’ command didn’t help either. If I look at the services tab in Windows it seems to run for a millisecond and instantly shut itself off again. I’ve tried many different things and I’ve run out of ideas. Anybody know the solution? many thanks in advance.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Step 1 Install AMP
  • Step 2 Attemp to run first instance it creates

Actions taken to resolve so far:

  • Reinstall AMP Multiple Times
  • Start AMP-ADS01 manually through services.msc
  • upgradeall command

You’ll want to check the AMP logs using ampinstmgr lastlog ADS01 to see what’s happening

Hi, thanks for replying to my post. The lastlog is simply the following:

That seems fine to me, but it just doesn’t want t boot up or show anything on the ip it sets.

when i start it up through cmd and check its status its off.

Weird, run through this uninstall guide, then reinstall.
https://discourse.cubecoders.com/t/how-to-uninstall-amp/2273
Mainly to make sure that there isn’t anything weird left over from the previous installs you had.

I’ve followed the steps and reinstalled using the ‘typical’ option in the installer. Sadly did not help, its the same case.

Also, since the reinstall the AMP service in services.msc has disappeared now too, don’t know if that is supposed to happen or not but that might narrow it down.

Did you reboot after uninstalling, before you installed AMP again?

I didn’t. Uninstalled and reinstalled again now with a reboot. The AMP-ADS01 service has appeared again in services.msc but still same issue, it doesn’t appear to run. When i want to manually do it i get this error:

When you open the desktop instance manager, do you see the ADS instance in there?

Yes, i see the instance

What happens if you right click the line with the ADS and press start? (or there may be a start button at the bottom)

When i right click and press start, it takes me to this screen where it will stay on forever

Let’s check the ampinstmgr lastlog ADS01 again, see if there’s anything different now that it’s started a few more times.
If it has the same message I think I might have an idea

Hmmm… it turned into this now

Though i dont start it in an elevated command prompt

Have you disabled UAC on your system?

Yes, I turned it back on to test but this did not help viewing the last log gives the same error

You’ll need to completely uninstall AMP, enable UAC, reboot! then reinstall again.

If you disable UAC you’ll immediately kill AMP.
