Problem Description
Issue
Hi Team!
Need a fresh pair of eyes thanks
I and others can not see my ark server externally. even on battlemetric
- Running ASE in Amp (Non Docker) on Windows 11 Pro
- Is on a different machine than my main gaming one
- Amp Notes Ports are listening
- I can see the game on the local network
- Ports are forward on the Firewall (Sophos / Modem in bridge mode)
- Windows Firewall is open
- Amp Instances allowed Apps in firewall
- Server has a password
- just deleted and created a new instance
- turned cross play off and on
- Other amp instances and apps work
Am i missing something?
Reproduction Steps
- added password to server
- turned off cross play and back on
- deleted whole instance and re installed
- tried tcp and udp port opening on firewall and windows firewall
@CubeCoders-Bot Can you walk this user through diagnosing a connectivity issue? Check that it’s listening, check the firewall, if they’re home hosting have them check with another local device before looking at port forwarding.
Alright, let’s dive into this ARK survival connectivity issue! First off, let’s verify that your server is actually listening for connections properly. Since you mentioned AMP notes that ports are listening, we need to cross-check that.
Step 1: Verify Ports are Listening
To ensure that your ARK server is listening on the correct ports through AMP:
- Open AMP’s web interface.
- Navigate to your ARK: Survival Evolved instance.
- Use the right-click menu:
Instance > View Logs
to check if the server logs show any port-binding messages.
Step 2: Check Windows Firewall
You’ve said that the Windows Firewall is open, but let’s be double-sure:
- Open the Control Panel.
- Navigate to System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall > Advanced Settings.
- Check Inbound Rules for rules allowing your ARK server ports (default ports: 7777 for game traffic, 27015 for Steam clients).
Step 3: Local Network Check
Before we jump into the deep end with port forwarding, let’s confirm that other devices on your local network can see the server:
- On another computer in your network, open ARK: Survival Evolved.
- Try to connect to the server using the local IP address of the machine running the ARK server.
If the game can connect internally but external players still can’t see the server, then we’re more likely looking at a port forwarding issue.
Let me know the results for these checks, and we can move to the next steps!

there are a lot of RCON disconnecting and failed messages.
### Step 2: Check Windows Firewall
I can confirm the windows firewalls rules are open
### Step 3: Local Network Check
I can also confirm that locally the server can be steam and as well per the steam server browser.
Please note other points re connection.
Note this is ports forward in Sophos Firewall
Any other questions, please let me know
Thanks & Regards
WMD
Alright, thanks for the detailed info! Seems like the server itself is running smoothly locally. Let’s tackle the next step, focusing on external connectivity.
Step 4: Port Forwarding Verification
Please ensure that the following steps are accurately followed in your Sophos Firewall setup:
- Forward Ports: Check that the ports your ARK server uses (default: 7777 for game traffic, 27015 for Steam) are forwarded to the correct local IP address of your ARK server machine.
- Protocol Setup: Make sure both TCP and UDP are selected for these ports.
- Test Open Ports: Use an online tool to check if the required ports are open. Websites like canyouseeme.org can be helpful. Enter the ports one by one to check.
Step 5: Double-Check Static IP
Ensure the local machine running the server has a static IP address within your network. Changing IP addresses could throw off port forwarding.
Step 6: Connection Test using External IP
- Ask a friend or use a different network (like mobile data) to ping your external IP and see if the ports are reachable.
- Try connecting to your server using the external IP address from ARK: Survival Evolved.
Let’s narrow it down step by step - let me know how the port forwarding tests go!
