Unable to connect to minecraft bedrock server remotely

OS Name/Version: ubuntu server 24.04.2

Product Name/Version: Minecraft Bedrock v1.21.73

Problem Description: I have installed ubuntu Server onto a HP Elitedesk and I am already running a Minecraft Java modded server successfully, but when I have attempted to run an instance of Bedrock Minecraft I am unable to connect remotely while LAN connections still work.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Step 1: Start Bedrock Instance
  • Step 2: check that all ports are listening in AMP Dashboard
  • Step 3: Try to connect from mobile phone on Mobile network

Actions taken to resolve so far: Check all ports and make firewall rules through webmin and port forwarding rules through my Verizon CR200A Router. I’ve even tried completely disabling all firewall features on my router while using the DMZ host feature to completely expose the Elitedesk to remote connections with no avail. I have used the command ampinstmgr dumpfirewall and such to track down what ports need to be forwarded and every port showed up correctly when using this command.

With LAN still working and remote connections failing under all circumstances I am starting to wonder if maybe I need to use pass through to avoid port forwarding issues with my current router or something as I do not know how to test my NAT type with this router. Thank you!

You’re port forwarding UDP right?

Can you see your server on https://mcsrvstat.us ? (Make sure you select the “Bedrock server?” box)

Yeah I definitely port forwarded them UDP and also tried every way I could think to add the corresponding linux firewall settings in webmin. I even tried everything that I could UDP/TCP at the same time, and still nothing.

I did realize I wasnt using my WAN IP I was using the one it shows me in the AMP dashboard.

EDIT: Ok, so I seemed to have fixed it by switching from the default port to 25565 UDP for IPv4 and 25564 for IPv6, then using my WAN IP and port forwarding. My other modded Java server uses 25566 so this worked perfectly.
