Startup Issue with Valheim - The server only gives an error message when starting

Problem Description

Issue

It just doesn’t start. I don’t know what the problem is. I installed Valheim as normal and then selected Valheim plus in the options. I then clicked on Update and then wanted to start the server and then an error message came up

  • Update scan
  • Valheim plus reset

Check your server password. It has to be a certain complexity or the server fails to start. At least that has been my experience with it. Good Luck

Thank you very much, I managed to do that with the server but I wanted to put a modpack on the server. The problem is that it just doesn’t work somehow. Maybe you know more about it

Are you using ValheimPlus? does it start without any other mods?

** Caught that you are using plus. Theres a problem with the original mod, its been abandoned, you may need to find its new home and manually download the updated version and install it in amp ** <— knowledge courtesy of ErkDog in Discord.

The modpack works without Valheim plus I only need BepInEx for it and everything works until I drag the mods into the folder and then the server no longer works

How are you “dragging the mods”?

AMP uses the currently maintained Grantapher fork (which has also been updated for the latest BepInEx)

so to explain what I do I install Valheim normally then I install BepInEx then click on Update again and start it then stop the server then I download the modpack and drag the files that the server needs so the mods plugins patchers configs on the server and then it only throws error messages and no longer works

Again, how are you putting the mods on the server?

well, I download them as normal and then drag them into the directory where they belong with Filezilla

OK. I suspect you are using an older version of Bep that doesn’t work with the latest Valheim.

Make sure the version set in AMP is 5.4.2202

Then delete the unstripped_corlib dir and the doorstop_config.ini file and update the server again

I deleted both things and updated the server and the server is already running on 5.4.2202 still does not work

Your logs have access denied errors, which would usually suggest file perms issues. You used AMP’s SFTP?

No I use Filezilla for this

Unless you are logging in as the amp user when using the system SFTP, that is your issue

Run as root: ampinstmgr fixperms

Im going to get ready now and get some work done first. I’ll take care of it tonight and see if I can do it. If not, I’ll put it here in the post.
