Problem Description

Issue

Unable to start space engineers server. first there was error 255 but now no error type. Just fail to start

tried to reinstall completely instance - same error occured.

Reproduction Steps

  • installation of instance
  • server start button
  • server start

Update #1

Had in console

Error! App ‘298740’ state is 0x202 after update job.

Googled it and seemed to be low disk space.

Upgraded server to 50gb
App 298740 installed successfully.

But now I’m still getting error

wine: Unhandled exception 0xe0434352

and unable to start the server

I have exactly the same problem on Ubuntu 22.04, the installation and update went without problems, only at startup I get the wine error.

0x202 means you’re out of disk space. Check using df -h.

Yep, that was my first error. Made a bigger server, it went through and then I have the second error, same as many other users here. That one I can’t understand…

I can’t start the server either, I just keep getting this error message:

I’m wondering if there is anyone here who have their Space Engineers server running on linux?..

Tested it on one of my other servers with AMP - same problem!
Tested Space Engineer directly on Ubuntu 22.04 with wine and proton, without docker - in both cases no issues.
It is comprehensible under AMP on Ubuntu 22.04, pretty easy with less effort, just install new Space Engineer instance with latest AMP Callisto Update in Docker container.

The AMP docker image needed a change to allow the template to install older wine 8 packages in the container. This change has now occurred. Update AMP/the instance to pull the latest docker image (and template config).
