Problem Description

Issue

Minecraft fails to launch, claiming that Java version 65 is not available, but is required to run version 1.21.1

Reproduction Steps

  • Updated AMP to 2.5.1.6 - couldn’t manage instance until I updated
  • Updated instance - couldn’t manage without updating
  • Booted server - it worked, but was the wrong version for players to connect (out of date)
  • Stopped server and manually selected version 1.21.1
  • Attempted to start server

You need to select Java 21 in the server’s settings, it’s required by MC 1.21.1

Wow, thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately, that option isn’t available. I’m currently only seeing 8, 17, and 18. Any idea how I would go about fixing this?

Thanks!

You’re not using Docker, so you’d have to install Java 21 via the system’s package manager
getamp installJava as root should also install it
