Problem Description

Issue

the java version used won’t support the latest edition of minecraft and it doesn’t give me the option to update the server’s java version.
“Error: LinkageError occurred while loading main class net.minecraft.bundler.Main
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/minecraft/bundler/Main has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 65.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 61.0”.
is the error message i keep getting which is a pretty obvious fix but i don’t have direct access to the pc to update java directly. and it won’t take a newer version through the file manager.

Reproduction Steps

  • minecraft won’t launch so i tried to force launch it
  • tried to update java myself but server won’t take newer version of java needed
  • yeah so this seems like a huge waste of time due to the simplicity of the issue being the java runtime version

wow it forces a community post as the support ticket. honestly disappointing. but yea if anyone knows how to update the java version on their hostinger i’d appreciate it.

This isn’t Hostinger support, this is the forum for AMP. Hostinger doesn’t set their support URL properly so it defaults to here.

Just install Java 21 using your operating system’s package manager, then stop/start the minecraft instance
