Problem Description

Issue

Hello, I’m not sure why this is occurring. I am able to start the server through SSH, however, clicking “start” on the webui causes the server to fail on startup.

Reproduction Steps

  • Click start on the hostinger webui
  • Hostinger webui fails
  • SSH into the server
  • navigate to VaultHunters201 Minecraft
  • execute the command bash run.sh
  • server starts and is playable

Post logs as text please, not as images. Use code tags to make it readable.

The logs aren’t relevant to the troubleshooting, just as proof that the server is running when I SSH in to the VPS, I get no logs from hostinger as it simply fails.

What user did you run the shell script as?

root, which is why this is confusing me. I’d assume the commands through Hostinger Gamepanel are also running as root on the VPS.

AMP runs as the amp linux user. Though this isn’t Hostinger support, this is just the forum for AMP.

(Run ampinstmgr fixperms as root to resolve permission issues)

Hello, where would I run this? I’ve returned from Hostinger support and they redirected me back here as they say it’s an issue with the gamepanel.

The error I receive on the web panel is an out of memory error, however, this error doesn’t appear when SSHing into the server.

Can you show us the actual error? Don’t paraphrase it.

So, all the WebUI says is

The Minecraft server repeatedly failed to start, this is not a fault with AMP - you should check your Minecraft servers log files to find out why it is unable to start.

And now, when I go to check the log files for the server, there doesn’t appear to be any new errors.

Crash reports hasn’t changed.

Latest log is only showing when I shut down the server manually from putty, no error there.

Same with debug.log

The web panel console shows no errors.

However, like I said before the server is perfectly capable of running if I run it via bash in ssh.

Ignore the aforementioned out of memory error, I can’t get that to appear and it might’ve been from a much earlier log file. Apologies have been attempting to troubleshoot this myself for the better part of a week.

Additional error, I’m trying to restore a backup and now I’m getting the error “unable to extract archive”.

Edit: Fuck it, I’m just going to run a VPS without AMP. The backups failing to extract and requiring me to SFTP to do it myself are the straw that broke the camels back.

Thread resolved.

Sounds like you’ve actually got some permissions issues. If you started the server outside of AMP as the root user for example then the permissions will be damaged and that’d explain some of the problems you’ve had. Having the diagnostic information from AMPs support page would have also been useful.
