Problem Description
Issue
Hi
I wanted to start my Astroneer Server and it won’t start. The AMP Logs just show:
[System:admin Warning/17] : Telnet RCON failed to connect.
[RCON:admin Info/9] : Telnet disconnecting…
Can someone help me?
Reproduction Steps
- Installed Astroneer Instance on Linux Server
- Waited that the setup is completed
- Pressed “Start” and the Server won’t start and is in the Error Loop
Did you make sure to port forward the needed ports through the router to the server?
I think yes. But It’s an external vServer and I can’t change the ports of the provider.
Ok that will be an issue on their end then. Check their instructions on RCON access first and see if there is something you need to enable. If not you may need to contact them. Which service are you using?
I don’t know about that service but a Google llm chat gave me this
RCON & AMP Management Steps
Firewall Configuration: Log into your netcup Server Control Panel (SCP) and make sure the RCON port required by your game is allowed through the external firewall filters.
AMP RCON Passthru:
Configure RCON Passthru mode in AMP settings if an external tool needs a static, predictable password instead of AMP’s auto-managed dynamic tokens.
Instance Restarts:
If game console/RCON inputs become unresponsive after a few days, perform a full restart of the specific application instance via the AMP ADS manager rather than just restarting the game server process.
This post fixed it. You just have to use the search bar inside the Game instance: Astroneer Not Starting on Linux
