Why are these restrictions in place?
Each country and region has its own laws and regulations regarding taxation of users for virtual goods and services. CubeCoders is registered to collect and remit VAT (A type of sales tax) in the United Kingdom and the European Union.
Some countries, states or regions require registration to sell in that region at all. If this is a region with a small number of users then it is not financially viable to offer our services there due to the cost of registration, or the cost of collecting and remitting tax in that region. Some impose limits on the number of annual transactions or annual revenue that may be collected before registration is required. We evaluate these on a case-by-case basis to determine availability based on those limits and the cost involved with overcoming those limits.
What should I do if I am in one of these regions?
We’re working on making gifting of licences possible so that someone in a supported region may make purchases from us on your behalf, as that shifts the tax obligation away from the affected regions. Alternatively you may pay via Patreon at https://patreon.com/cubecoders which doesn’t have these restrictions.
