Port forwarding for only AMP doesn't work

OS Name/Version: Linux Mint 22.2

Product Name/Version: AMP Release “Phobos”
v2.6.4.2, built 10/12/2025 02:33

Problem Description:
I am trying to host a Valheim server on a dedicated server i have running. I have successfully created the server and can connect locally. However when I try to connect remotely it doesn’t work. It is something with the port forwarding, but I have done the same procedure for other services (plex) and there it works fine, also Valheim uses 3 ports, an SFTP, a “Game” and a “Steam query” port. When i use a website to check open ports it lists the SFTP port as open but the other as closed. So only the “Game” and “steam query” ports seem unable to be opened. Any ideas why?

Steps to reproduce:

  • Try to connect to Valheim server remotely.

Actions taken to resolve so far:
Port forwarded
Tried using other ports in AMP and forward those in the router.
Disabling firewall in server.
Rebooted everything.

EDIT:
Well, solved it by hotspotting through phone network and connecting. Supposedly that is how it is supposed to work. Only have to solve how to connect to external ip from local network. Sort of a non-issue since the local ip works but still annoying

That is a classic NAT hairpin/loopback issue

If you router supports it, turn that on
