Palworld Official Server --> AMP Migration Steps

OS Name/Version: Windows Server 2025

Product Name/Version: v2.6.0.8, built 24/01/2025 10:18

Problem Description: I’m experiencing issues when attempt to migrate my save data from a standalone Steam Palworld server to AMP. Usually this results in the player files being ignored, the server failing to start, and other issues.

While the issues I’ve encountered vary, this simplest solution might be to ask if there’s any steps or official documentation detailing how to migrate my save data from the standalone server to AMP. What files should I copy, where should I copy them to, etc.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start a fresh instance in AMP for Palworld. Once this instance has been installed and started, stop the server
  2. Copy files from the Palworld standalone server. Specifically, I’ve been copying:
    Steam\steamapps\common\PalServer\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\0\FD7EF3C64DFD695465F8818082AA1895\Level.save
    Steam\steamapps\common\PalServer\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\0\FD7EF3C64DFD695465F8818082AA1895\LevelMeta.save
    Steam\steamapps\common\PalServer\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\0\FD7EF3C64DFD695465F8818082AA1895\Players
  3. I’ve been pasting these at
    AMPDatastore\Instances\TGTPalworld01\palworld\2394010\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\0\FD7EF3C64DFD695465F8818082AA1895
  4. Start the server, which proceeds to show “Installing” and ignores player saves.

Actions taken to resolve so far:

  1. Reinstalling the entire instance
  2. Only copying files over using the file manager in case of permissions issues.
  3. Using the “ampinstmgr fixperms” command on files copied over
  4. I’ve also tried copying the entire “Pal” folder over, which is most likely evident from the same “FD7EF3C64DFD695465F8818082AA1895” file name above- AMP gives a different name upon start. So far I have no clue whether what I’ve been doing is right or wrong, and can only use the scraps of information on Steam discussion boards to help me.

Is there any kind of guide, 1 to 1 file copy, or steps that can help me move our server?

Just creating an instance doesn’t install Palworld. You need to manage the server and click update to install it first

As for converting saves from a client-based server to a dedicated server, there are plenty of guides on the internet for how to do so (not specific to AMP)
