Figure out why random unknown names are appearing on the list in my minecraft console

Problem Description

Issue

I have started to notice that there are names of uknown players appearing on the list to the right of my console. These players are unknown to me and not on the whitelist. Also, when I try to kick them it says they are not on the server. I have ascreenshot if that helps

  • Checked the names
  • checked them again
  • refreshed and checked them again

Bots on the internet try to join random servers all the time.
There’s an occasional bug where AMP will think a user joined when they’re rejected by the whitelist, this is purely a visual bug and doesn’t effect the game at all.

Does that apply to real players too. I’ve checked and these aren’t bots.

By “bots” I mean real accounts, that have been automated to connect to random servers.
Usually they join to check your plugin lists/game version to see if your server is exploitable.
