Task

Minecraft Server keeps lagging.

Problem Description

Issue

After a while of playing my server gets lag spikes, as far I saw in the Instances page the CPU range is jumping from 20% to 99-100% continously.

Reproduction Steps

  • Moved my server from my pc to the SFTP
  • Tried playing for a while until I got lag spikes
  • Found CPU ranging from 15-20% to 99-100%

You’ll have to use something like the Spark plugin/mod to narrow down what’s using the most CPU.
It is also commonly caused by people trying to set the render distance too high (the default being 10)
