After installing the modpack you need to select the right modloader and version.

that helped on the first half
But why not have the modloader in a block of its own ?
Or a guide when i select the java edition where you guide us through which mod i want and what modloader i want to use

The FTB download system is just another “Server Type”, so it makes things a bit weird to work through considering there isn’t a reliable way to grab the version info from the installed server.
To my knowledge, the end goal with the Minecraft module is to have a bunch of the weird MC-specific stuff split into it’s own panel plugin, and generalize more of the MC module’s features into the Generic module that’s used by most of the games in AMP nowadays.
In short, it’s cause Minecraft is really weird with a whackload of edge cases, and the Mincraft AMP module is from a time before the Generic module existed.
