Problem Description

Issue

After utilizing the backup feature chunks started going missing, now the entire world is gone, but FTB and maps remembers where everything is, which means just the world isn’t loading, I had an issue yesterday where after I backed up the server I could no longer run the server, I had to copy the mods over from a manual backup to fix it. I backed up again and it seemed to not have an issue so I set a schedule for backups, now my world has disappeared xD

Reproduction Steps

  • Backed up the server
  • Restarted the server after backup but did not work
  • Copied mods folder from previous hand made backup
  • Server worked and I tested backups it then worked
  • Created backup schedule, then the world started disappearing

If you managed files using the Windows File Explorer you may have buggered file permissions. It’s best to use the web file manager and SFTP for file edits/uploads.
You can run ampinstmgr fixperms in CMD to resolve any file permission issues.

This was 100% from AMP backups, I have tested and can confirm, I made a backup with an ATM9 TTS server, reloaded the server, chunks gone, this may just be an issue with my AMP in particular but who knows. I am now using Duplicacy to make backups of the servers and it seems to be working fine, also added the SimpleBackups forge mod to make sure I have enough backups xD.

I only ever use windows file explorer on this server and haven’t had issues before with permissions, and this is over 10 years of messing around with minecraft and servers

AMP runs with minimal file perms, so using the Windows File Explorer has a chance of buggering things, since AMP itself runs as NETWORK SERVICE.
Wouldn’t bugger a server that you’re running outside of AMP, but within AMP the standard procedure is to use SFTP to sanitize file perms.
