Minecraft Bedrock Server - Can't change game settings

OS Name/Version: Ubuntu 24.04.2 Server

Product Name/Version: AMP “Phobos” V2.6.1.4

Problem Description: I am running a Minecraft Bedrock server on an Ubuntu VM. I had no problem with the AMP install or setting up the server instance itself. My problem is with the in-game settings in Minecraft. I have new players set to ‘Operator’, so anyone should be able to change game settings. A couple game settings can be changed, like difficulty level and Game Mode, but nothing else can be changed. Specifically, items like ‘Show Coordinates’ I am unable to toggle on and off.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Log out and log back in
  • Go to game settings
  • Try to change settings

Actions taken to resolve so far: I have tried logging out of the server and logging back in. I have tried logging in as a different user. I have tried shutting down, updating and restarting the server. I have even tried completely deleting the instance and creating a new one, all yielding the same results. Enabling cheats does not fix the issue either.

Maybe double check that cheats are enabled on the server

Cheats enabled? Is that in the server settings? I just don’t understand why that would be required to change game settings, but I’ll give it a try.

From a quick google it seemed that Bedrock considers some features “cheats”, so it’s worth a shot imo.

Interesting, I’ll give it a try. Thanks!
