Minecraft Bedrock Chat Event

OS Name/Version: Ubuntu Server 20.04

Product Name/Version: AMP Release “Triton” v2.3.2.12, built 05/05/2022 18:13

Problem Description:

When I create an event within the Schedule of a Minecraft Bedrock instance for “A player sends a chat message”, it does not fire. Additionally, the log for the instance when set to debug level does not show any attempts to fire this event but runs others including “A player leaves the server” as expected.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Step 1: navigate to a Minecraft Bedrock instance
  • Step 2: go to Schedule
  • Step 3: add a new trigger for “A player sends a chat message”
  • Step 4: add a new task within this trigger for anything
  • Step 5: connect to the Minecraft Bedrock instance and send a message and observe the event not being triggered

Actions taken to resolve so far:

  • Applied all available updates for both AMP and Minecraft Bedrock
  • Checked JSON parsing of the schedule JSON files
  • Sent messages as the server as opposed to a player
  • Changed the type of event that is called by the trigger to ensure that it isn’t specific to the event I’d like to use (sending a Discord message)
  • Full reboot of the Ubuntu system and multiple reboots of the instance
  • Deletion and re-creation of the events and the triggers

The Bedrock server does not log chat events to its console, this isn’t an AMP issue - it’s been an ongoing annoyance in the Minecraft community for some time.

Ok, thank you for the response Mike! Good to know.

As it’s not an AMP issue, I’ll find another way around it.

Cheers!
