Creating a local backup

Problem Description

Issue

I have plenty of available space on disk, but it has been a while since I have done a backup as I have been setting up the server.

I have recently pre-generated all terrain (Minecraft server) so now the backup should be +150GB. It just hangs at ‘Building file list’ and doesn’t seem to ever progress, on a few occasions it has even crashed the instance. I have followed the guide and enabled logging and log just says:

[14:33:33] [FileBackup:redacted Activity/16] : Creating Backup: test

Reproduction Steps

  • Attempt to create a local backup
  • wait 30+ minutes
  • nothing happens

Check your backup size limits in the instance’s settings
