Manual tModLoader Config doesn't work & I cant edit the configs in game (lack of perms)

OS Name/Version: Windows 11

Product Name/Version:
Game version: tModLoader v2025.10.3.1
AMP Preset: tModLoader 1.4+

Problem Description:

Just started this new instance two days ago because me and my friends were wanting to play Terraria modded without me constantly logging on and off the server forcing them to only play when I'm available.

EITHER WAY. when setting up the server, as I was uploading the mods I wanted to AMP, I realized that there was no "ModConfigs" folder to be found, so I had to make one. after that, I generated a world on my own pc and uploaded it to AMP (because AMP cant generate worlds with calamity mod gen like the abyss and sulfur sea.) and all was working well... until I tried checking the config settings in game.

All the server sided configs were default, zero changes had been made, and when I tried to change them manually, it didn't work (obviously because of my lack of permissions).

So what kind of solution do I need?
well, I either need to find a way to get permission to change the server settings while in game. (/login doesnt work, aparently thats "linux only")
OR I need to get it to work in the AMP file manager. (there wasn't a "ModConfigs" folder in "ModLoader" to begin with, so maybe need to add some code or it's hiding somewhere.)

QUICK NOTE:
I WAS able to manipulate calamity's config IN GAME for a bit, but now it just constantly gives me a "asking the server" notification anytime I try to change it (along with every other config.)

Steps to reproduce:

IN AMP:

  • Make your config files off of the server on own PC
  • Transfer them to the “ModConfigs” folder in the “ModLoader” folder.
  • Boot the server to check
  • still default Configs :frowning:

IN GAME:

  • Boot the server
  • Try to change configs in game
  • It doesn’t work :frowning:

Actions taken to resolve so far:

  • Make files read and write.
  • HERO’s Mod (does nothing smh)
  • re-install mods
  • add new mods
  • Change “ModConfigs” folder location
  • ChatGPT… Yuck. didn’t work at all.

Found a solution: Create ModConfigs folder in /ModLoader/Worlds
