Feature Gating
Hey everyone, as part of an much larger set of changes that go beyond AMP 3 - the way that the licencing for AMP works is going to change slightly.
One of the changes is we’re going to be doing less in the way of locking features behind licence tiers, so AMP 3 users will enjoy the following changes:
- OIDC Single-sign on will be available across all tiers, not just Advanced Edition.
- Analytics and Geo-fencing will only require Professional Edition rather than Advanced.
- Webhooks will no longer be gated behind Professional edition and will be available on all tiers.
- Template Roles don’t have a direct equivalent in AMP 3, but there is no similar feature-gating where certain types of roles are tied to licence types.
These changes will apply retroactively to existing AMP 2 licence key owners, this isn’t something that only new users benefit from. So we’re going to be giving everyone an upgrade in this regard.
Features specific to Enterprise Edition (billing integration, etc) will of course remain locked to that tier.
McMyAdmin 1/2 Keys
Now one of the issues that will affect older users in particular is how McMyAdmin 1/2 keys play into things.
AMP 2 allowed users with older McMyAdmin licence keys to use the software but be limited to Minecraft only.
Due to purely technical limitations (this is very much not an arbitrary or business decision) it won’t be possible to make McMyAdmin licences usable in AMP 3.
However as a goodwill gesture for our most loyal customers, we will be offering existing McMyAdmin 2 key holders an option to get a discounted upgrade to AMP 3.
