Problem Description:
error message pops up when i try to change server type and download it," Download / Update failed : ‘java’ is not installed, or not available in PATH. Please make sure Java 8 is installed on your system. If you have just installed Java then you will need to restart AMP." as this is my first time using amp, i dont know how to configure anything. is there a way so it can find it? i have minecraft java and bedrock, so i dont know why its not working.
Steps to reproduce:
* Step 1:open and manage instance
* Step 2: use the search bar and type Sprigot and choose the one that says;" Server Type".
* Step 3:change server type to spigot and click download/update.
* Step 4: **Task Failed** **Download / Update failed : 'java' is not installed, or not available in PATH. Please make sure Java 8 is installed on your system. If you have just installed Java then you will need to restart AMP.**
Actions taken to resolve so far:
It only says Java 8. I ran into the same issue. So I google to Java and download Java 8. Little did I know, that it needs the JDK (Developer Version) and not the normal JRE (Runtime Version). It may be good to update the error message for those looking for a more guided experience. I am under the impression that is the goal of the AMP software after all. So really it was not telling this user what was wrong. It only says that there is an issue with the Java install. It’s not very enlightening as to why. However, I appreciate the proper link to a location where you can get a Java 8 SDK installer. Thank you.
That link does lead to a Java 8 installer.
Make your own post instead of commenting on something that’s 2 years old lol.
If you’re using Linux, run getamp installJava as root, otherwise install the windows MSI linked there.
Then stop/start the instance to refresh the Java versions.
You can use either a JDK or JRE to run Minecraft, it doesn’t matter.
