Friends Can't Join Amp Server

OS Name/Version: Ubuntu Linux 24.04.2

Product Name/Version: 2.6.1.6 - 20250421.1

Problem Description: Anytime a friend tries to join my dedicated Minecraft server, they get the getsockopt error message. I can join perfectly fine from IP and port forward (playit.gg and xfinity router). It worked perfectly fine a week ago. One night we were all online and everyone but me got getsockopt. I’ve looked at many different solutions but nothing seems to be working.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Step 1 Start AMP Server
  • Step 2 Port forward with playit.gg and xfinity router api
  • Step 3 Have someone not on the local network attempt to join MC server

Actions taken to resolve so far: Reserve IP through Xfinity router API, Port Forward via Xfinity router API, Switch IP, Update Linux, change playit.gg port forward, restart the server, and have friends join from playit.gg port forward and direct IP.

Maybe check that your friends are entering the right information, and that this site can ping the server https://mcsrvstat.us/

I don’t know a ton about networking but the site says it was able to ping the server, just no query. “No - Failed to read from socket.”

That would mean the port forward/playit tunnel isn’t working currently.
After you port forwarded, did you give your friends your public IP? (the one you get when you google “what is my IP”)

I haven’t. I’m just confused why it would’ve worked for over a week without it. I’ll try that though!
