Feedback - "Community Pages"

With the release of AMP 2.5.1.2 we introduced “Community Pages” as an easy and convenient way to share a link to your server, no matter what game it was and let people see it’s state at a glance.

The feedback so far has been positive, but we’d love to know in more detail what you think of it - and what features you feel it’s missing. We’d also be interested to know how you guys are using the feature, how useful it is, etc.

Some features we’re already planning include:

  • Instance-specific information (for community links etc)
  • Inclusion of Branding information from licence types that support it (Like Advanced and Enterprise)
  • Custom links to other sites/services associated with the server.
  • Ability to be styled by the main AMP theme.

But we’d love to hear your thoughts. So this is the place to put them!

I like to see a General Text to display, like an About, just to give a place to talkup the server more without linking somewhere else. Also a way to list other servers that I maybe hosting with their community links embedded on any of the other servers pages…

I think right now how the theme setup for the community pages if fine right now. It should be a separate part of the theme. Just needs a rework for future amp versions.

Not sure if “instance-specific information” includes this but id like to see;

  • Ability to configure the community page within the instance, seems i can only set discord/urls in the instance deployment options as a whole right now
  • Similar to above, many games do support hostnames that I have set in instance deployment, although some require an IP instead and the connect button should let me pick how its shown
  • Custom image for the game, not branding?
  • Maybe as this is tied into amp a simple admin/management button next to the server online/offline for when you’re inviting friends you dont need to give them multiple links one for the server info, one of the panel

Some bugs both in ff/edge:

  • Removing the location still shows the map “pin” icon on the community page
  • Removing the default community url also removes the display name of the community
  • Not a huge issue but none of the links actually force correct urls

Looking good so far! I like the idea of an area to write some stuff about the server, I wonder if you could also add a place to download a something like a cursed forge profile or something needed for that server.

How about server password? Since the community pages aren’t published anywhere and are generated on the local server it wouldn’t be a security risk really would it? The only people that would get the password would still only be the people that you send the community page link to I believe right?

please add

This one i think for Minecraft is a good idea myself. the only problem i see is where to store it.

I wouldn’t mind this but have it be a toggle for it as for some communities do have their discord servers with the password already in a channel just for some level of obscurity from public viewing.

Maybe make it so we can drop this GUI in the discord through an amp command? That way it will act like a discord module to show if the server is online or offline?

We’ve been working on something like that

I will say that i do think that Instance Hostname box should be in the Community Pages tab and i still think that community pages css should be separate section on the themes

I would really like to set the values manually, especially the hostname/ip (i can only choose the ip’s on the AMP interfaces, but i’m forwarding my WAN ip/port).

And i would like the option to enable/disable what is shown (i like to disable the discord button).

I was searching hours for setting these settings.
Its possible to change the default deployment text, but not the text for any instance that is already setup.

The idea at all is nice. but the lack of flexibility makes it obsolete atm in my opinion.
