Problem Description: Failed to activate AMP 0 unknown error / Exit code 32 (license)

This. A lot.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Reactive Local Instances
  • Attempt to Start Minecraft Bedrock instance
  • Fail to start, exit code 32.

or

  • Re-run Setup (or new installation)
  • Add license key when prompted
  • Get “Failed to activate AMP - unknown error”

Actions taken to resolve so far:

Double check license is valid (it is, Standard lifetime license, 0 activations)

License code: Tried cutting and pasting, typing out, removing hyphens, adding extra hyphens, trying alternate characters that might have been ambiguous.

Remove all VPN software, turn off all firewalls, open relevant port forwarding on router. Reinstalled AMP (several times), bypassed any wireless adapters. Try different combinations of ports, IP addresses, instance defaults. Have lost track of the number of attempts at deleting and re-creating instances with slightly different settings.

Check that instances own logs rather than the ADS log to see more about why it’s unhappy.

Worth mentioning that the IoT versions of Windows haven’t received any testing or validation at all for AMP.
