Problem Description
Issue
Metamod is not being loaded after the latest CS2 update. Meta list or meta version return unknown command. Do i have to wait for an update?
Reproduction Steps
- Attempted to re-apply the update and restarted the instance.
- Manually set metamod version to 1359 instead of leaving it blank.
- Renamed the plugin folders to *_old and attempted to reinstall the plugins.
- Removed redundant paths to metamod in gameinfo.gi
- Tried to check the logs for metamod, but it is empty.
Leaving it blank will download the latest, which is 1359 atm
Did you update the server after turning on the “Install Metamod” setting?
Yes, i first tried to update it it normally. I went into the server to test the plugins. And i soon realized that metamod was not loading properly. When i look in the console i can see that the latest metamod build is being downloaded. But it does not launch when i launch the server.
The “Install metamod” and “Install CounterStrikeSharp” Were already turned on when i pressed the update button on the console page.
I forgot to mention that it was working normally before the latest cs2 update. And i have updated before without issues.
Ah good to know, I believed something was broken with the update. Thanks for pointing me to the github bug report thread.
I guess i will have to be patient.

I found this post by chance after encountering the same issue due to the new update.
I’m intrigued by what you said “Leaving it blank will download the latest”.
I’m sorry for being clueless, but could you pls explain what you mean by that? Where do you manually set/leave it blank?
I’m running my own server using Docker, so I’ve been updating Metamod manually myself and it’s quite a hassle.

The Metamod Build Version box
This begs the question: “Where would one find such miraculous boxes?”
Its under configuration>updates>metamod and CSSharp.
There you will find options to toggle the automatic installation of both plugins
Use the other “miraculous box” - the search box in the instance xD
After brainstorming sessions involving deep analysis and careful consideration, I have concluded that I have absolutely no clue where all of these are.
Evidence hints towards the existence of a certain program or app, which would explain many hypotheses regarding “Miraculous Boxes”. Yet, it remains elusive from my grasp.
Are you even using AMP for this server?
