Problem Description

Issue

I did just as it was said on your youtube video on how to install mods for my server, but now i really can’t even connect to it, an error comes up saying “incomplete set of tags received from server. please contact server operator”. I checked it up and found out it had to do with mismatching mod lists between client and server, but i literally have the same modlist as the server, so now i really don’t know what to do.

Reproduction Steps

  • Create a server
  • Set it as a Forge 1.16.5 server
  • Create a folder named “mods”
  • Put all my modlist into the folder i just created
  • Put the exact same modlist into my client’s mod folder
  • Try to join the server, but i just can’t

Did you hit “Download/Update” after selecting the Forge version? Is Forge loading in the logs?

Thanks, i managed to sort it out, had to select minecraft server 1.16.5 as the startup jar and load all the mods one by one because there were some causing trouble, so i just started looking which ones made me unable to connect, but after all that i’m now experiencing some other complications about the mods. They’re just not working at all, and i once again followed all the instructions but can’t get it to work, i see the HUD mods like JourneyMaps and JEI, and all the items from the other mods appear when you open JEI inventory, but they just aren’t working with the world at all, i should see a lot of new flora and fauna as i have a lot of biomes mods, but it’s just a vanilla world with a minimap and JEI. I can’t even see the craft recipes for all the new items, JEI only shows me the enchantments, so it’s like they don’t even exist at all

If the world had been loaded previously without Forge, you’ll need to delete the world folder and let it regenerate.
Also, that minecraft_server.jar is the vanilla Jar, not the Forge one.
