Problem Description

Issue

My server can start and I can create new worlds by deleting the world folder. However, none of the worlds have the modded resources. For instance, the mod is supposed to have tin, copper, oil, an astral book on start, meteorite sites, etc. All the mods are added but its like it generates a vanilla minecraft world with the mods added. But since the world is vanilla, I cannot find any resources or utilize the mods. I have also tried deleting the world and running a local world, verifying my local world spawned me in with astral book + I spawned next to a marble pillar. After copying the world + save file over in file manager, I restarted my instance, and started it. When connecting I was in the same location and world but without any of the modded stuff

Reproduction Steps

  • Create new instance
  • Configure New FTB Revelation modpack
  • Change jar file from minecraft_server.jar to minecraft-server-1.12.2.jar
  • start the server
  • Login to the world and its all vanilla minecraft
  • Check mod options and verify everything is there, so not sure why the world itself is vanilla

Also note, I have tried the forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2858.jar file but it just throws the following error when I try to start using this jar file:

Unable to start server.

The Minecraft server stopped within 5 seconds of starting, this is not a fault with AMP - you should check your Minecraft servers log files to find out why it is unable to start.

UPDATE & SOLUTION

forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2858.jar would not run because I had system default Java version selected. Needed to change it to Java 8. Once the Java version was updated, it worked. Leaving post open in case others need it.

There’s a cheat sheet in the FAQ with all the different Forge ↔ Java versions:
