Issue
When trying to Join the new instance it will not let me or my friends join. I have gone through the setup guides of the discord and the one video you guys have. I do not know what I can do next. I have gone through and messed with the port forwarding and the
Reproduction Steps
- Making sure the Port forwarding was correct and to make sure the server was updated.
- Checked the settings in the configurations to make sure they were all set with an password.
- I am using a Orbi mesh system to make sure all this is working and I have set the server to a static IP.
- When trying to join the server either on the Main community page it will not work or when I try to join with the IP itself.
If you are sure your port forwarding is set up correctly from your router to your server, find out if your ISP has you behind CGNAT. If your WAN address assigned to your router is in the range of 100.64.x.1 to 100.127.x.254, your likely behind CGNAT and will have to use a forwarding service like playit.gg to tunnel through.
Do make sure you can connect to your server via a direct LAN connection via the local server IP just to rule out the firewall on the server.
I will have to check to see if I am behind CGNAT I am using the ISP of Great Plains communication so ill have to reach out on Monday for them. I am a novice when it comes to Port Forwarding as this my first time so I’m not 100% sure I have that part correct yet. Here is my setup on the router for the port forwarding.
Yes they use CGNAT. Sign up for playit.gg (its free) and follow it’s setup to tunnel through to set get access to your server.
Dang it okay well thank you for that information. So with Using Playit.gg How will that incorporate into this? it acts as the port that people outside my network can use to join the server? I can look up guides and videos for it I just have not heard of this service. Thanks again.
No worries. I haven’t had to use it in several years, but you download the software and run it on your server. It will give you a link to tie to your account and an address you can give your friends to join. Once it’s set up the first time, it’s pretty much nothing after that for future sessions.
You can search for other services like it if you prefer. I just like it as i remember the name over some of the others.
