Problem Description

Issue

Friends outside of network are unable to connect to my minecraft server, they keep getting the error “connection timed out: getsockopt” when attempting to join

Reproduction Steps

  • Started server
  • gave Ip to friends
  • they attempt to join
  • connection timed out

You missed: port forward the ports on the router

I assume also they are using your public IP?

my ports are forwarded both TCP and UDP to 25565 correctly, sorry I forgot to include that. We are currently going through a playit.gg ip but they have tried my public ip directly and neither worked

If you are using playit.gg, then port forwarding is irrelevant. Might need to look at your playit config
