Problem Description

Issue

my brother cant connect to my server it says io.netty.channel.abstractchannel$annotatedconnectexception connection timed out

Reproduction Steps

  • restarted pc
  • port foward
  • restarted router

Is your brother in the same house/location as you, and is he using the private (local) IP of the server?

yes he is in the same house and using the server ip

Are you running a modded MC server?

yes i am running a modded 1.16.5 server

When you say server IP, is he trying to use localhost? (I’m assuming you’re using AMP on your same PC that you play MC on)

If so, he would need to use your system’s internal IP address on your network.

i am using amp on the same pc as running MC and my brother is using my internal ip

Is your brother on the same network as the MC server?
In some cases I’ve seen ISPs set daisy-chain wifi off the router/modem without setting things to a bridged configuration.
You could double check that your brother and the MC server have similar IPs (the first three numbers being the same more or less)
