Problem Description

Issue

when trying to connect localy on the same network I am unable to see it

Reproduction Steps

  • Create Instance
  • confirm running
  • open astroneer client on another computer
  • add dedicated server

Astroneer only allows connections using the public IP in the client

Public IP? Is that a setting i have to set? How would it know what its public IP is? Or is it some weird online server Oauth then back to local?

I am testing localy before forwarding through NPM on a sub-domain.

Google “what’s my public IP”

Then port forward in your router

You’re unlikely to be able to successfully proxy game server traffic via NPM

is there a correct way to connect to an Astroneer server? So far noting I have tried works and the concole is giving me this error

ProtonFixes[912] WARN: Skipping fix execution. We are probably running an unit test.
fsync: up and running.

Yes, there is - I’ve already told you the way

You can ignore the proton warnings

I have tried connecting via the public IP and still nothing, do I need to configure Traefik? What ports need to be open to the AMP server as a whole? Can the AMP server work in a VM?

No.

The port assigned to your Astroneer server.

Yes.

Can someone outside your network connect to the server? If so, you have a NAT hairpin issue - see if you router has a setting for that

ok, I have confirmed I deployed a default new instance with the IP of the host, I confirmed the ports are forwareded on the VM, I have confirmed the ports are forwared on my router to the VM’s IP. I set the Astroneer IP in the .ini as the public IP and tried connecting from outside and nothing. I tried port scanning and I can get Ports 25565 for the minecraft instance.

Still not understanding what I am doing wrong.
