Problem Description

Issue

Attempting to connect to the running instance results in a “Failed to connect to host”. Attempted internally behind my firewall, as well as externally outside of firewall. Network gateway has port forwarding enabled and configured to send external game port requests to the machine running AMP. Have also attempted using a different unused port. All connections have resulted in the “Failed to connect to host” message.

Reproduction Steps

  • Started server
  • on separate machine, opened the game.
  • Went to “Add dedicated server”. Input proper external IP address and port.
  • After error, Attempted above with internal IP address and port.
  • resulted in error

See the box under Configuration > Astroneer in AMP’s UI - you need to configure your client (AMP handles the server)

I have configured the server name and password. I have ensured that whitelist is switched off. I have attempted to set my steam name to be the “server owner”. On a hunch I also attempted to set my steam user ID as the owner, as well as my steam ID number. All configurations were followed up by a server instance restart. At this point, I am so lost and confused on why this will not allow me to connect.

The box that says “Linux Server Configuration”

That box only shows me a warning and a file path. Is that what you mean?

Given that it titled exactly as I wrote, that’s a fair bet.

It is instructions as to what you have to do.

I can’t make it any clearer.

And this has to be done on the client side as well as the server side? I just want to ensure the game doesn’t somehow break. Also thank you so much for helping with this issue I’ve been having.
