Problem Description

Issue

Cannot connect to the server, I think it is because of teh wrong usage of ports, astro needs tcp and udp on steam query and 7777 tcp and udp for the base game

Reproduction Steps

  • Create Instance
  • Enter the instance
  • Start Server

No, the port usage is not wrong. AC uses Steam networking, and the game port is not actually used

Ok, so what is the solution for the problem? It should be very straight foward like other servers/instances but it isn’t.

when I click on the steam connect it says that something is wrong with the app id and can’t connect

Why do you assume it is like other servers?

Browse for the server in Steam or in-game, or try adding to Steam favorites using the query port

You will need to port forward and have NAT hairpin enabled for the browsers to work

Isn’t the steam query port open to lan? or am I miss understanding the way that steam functions with this server?

Answering to the first part, well every other server i.e Project Zomboid, Minecraft, Rust and Teamspeak just to name a few, work out of the box, the most similar would be Project Zomboid

PZ has a direct connect option
