Problem Description

Issue

The server instance is running and up to date. My ISP (starlink) is working for TV and internet. I can ping the server from my computer. But there is no ping showing from within Minecraft and it will not connect.

Reproduction Steps

  • restarted the instance
  • rebooted my router
  • used winmrt to check the routing

To clarify, are you hosting AMP from home?

I dont think so…not sure what that means. I have a vsp subscription with hostinger

AMP is normally a software that people self-host, Hostinger is an enterprise provider that doesn’t change the default support URL.
I’d suggest trying the VPS’s IP rather than the domain they gave you to see if that works

I am not very knowledgeable of the terminology so I may not fully understand what you are suggesting, but I really appreciate your help. Hostinger has only interacted with their AI and it has not helped.
I login to an IP address from my local minecraft on my computer. Minecraft does not show any ping for the server when I try to log on. It says it cannot connect to the server. It worked fine this morning. I have rebooted everything on my end including the starlink router. The internet and TV work fine. My download speed is 37 mbps and upload is 11.

Try the IP of the VPS (looks like #.#.#.#, replacing # with four numbers), instead of the domain (looks like something.domain.com)
You can find the VPS’s IP in whatever info Hostinger gave you initially

Hostinger often has issues with their DNS records, preventing people from using the domain

i use the IP address. I usnderstand that part. I dont use the domain address

Not too sure then, you might want to ask Hostinger’s human support to see if they have common troubleshooting steps, or a common connectivity FAQ that you could run through.

thanks potatoking! They finally responded by email…a real person (I think). I appreciate your efforts!
