Problem Description

Issue

I can’t get server to allow rendering of 32 chunks in-game. I’ve found the setting that allow for maximum render distance and have set to 32. Restarted server twice, but can still only load 16 chunks in game.

Reproduction Steps

  • Intialized Server
  • Set base game settings
  • Attempted to increase render distance
  • Restarted Server
  • Tried different settings for render distance
  • Restarted Server

Make sure you’re changing the setting under Server Settings and not the one under Performance and Limits (the one under Performance and Limits limits the one under Server Settings).
And make sure that your client is using the same render distance, and that you have no performance mods/plugins that would prevent you from increasing it further.
Please be warned, that even with a good computer, the server may slow down from too many chunks being loaded at once, given that MC is mostly singlethreaded.
