Cannot Install Avorion Mods

OS Name/Version: Linux Mint 22 (x86_64)

Product Name/Version: AMP 2.6.1.2

Problem Description:

When attempting to install mods for Avorion onto the server, I’m prompted to log into Steam. When I do, I am repeatedly re-prompted to add my login details, over and over. I’m never prompted to add a Steam Guard code, but I’ve verified that the login credentials are correct.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Add a mod workshop ID to the configuration via AMP (Settings > Updates > Steam Workshop)

  • Click “Update”

  • Attempt to log into Steam

Actions taken to resolve so far:

I have tried temporarily removing Steam Guard to see if that has any effect (it did not).

That’s not how you mod an Avorion server

See Using Mods on Dedicated Servers - Official Avorion Wiki

The server handles the mods itself, don’t use the Steam workshop items setting in AMP

When I had attempted to set up mods with the modconfig.lua file before, I had run into some issues where mods were reporting malformed version requirements (0.0.* when 0.23.1 was installed). Thus, I assumed that there was a configuration option in AMP that I needed to use instead of the traditional method of adding mods.

As a sanity check, however, I tried it again, and it seems to be working now – I don’t know what happened the first time, probably a bad download or another fluke. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
