Can not update Project Zomboid server version

OS Name/Version: Windows 10

Product Name/Version: 2.7 - 20260308.1 PZ b42.14, update to 42.15

Problem Description:

I’m running a Project Zomboid server with the unstable beta branch, but the server is on 42.14 version and my client game updated automatically to 42.15, so we can’t enter anymore.

How we can update the server version?

Steps to reproduce:

  • Enable beta branch
  • Select unstable branch
  • Wait to PZ devs to release a new version
  • Update your client version
  • Now the server mismatch with the latest unstable version

Actions taken to resolve so far:

  • Change beta branch
  • restart server
  • rollback beta branch to unstable
  • The same steps above but with the “upgrade instance” button instead of “restart server”

Ok, I found how to fix this:

  1. Go to your PZ instance
  2. Settings
  3. System settings
  4. System
  5. Startup mode
  6. Update and Start

Or you could have just stopped the server and clicked Update on the status page in the instance xD
