Thoughts

Sorry to be a pain this early in the year. Having looked at other ASKA related tickets, I’ve seen that this piece of software is not the most tame / well designed.
Unluckily for you guys, that’s how I’ve learned of AMP - someone was recommending AMP for ASKA! Really wasn’t keen on doing the whole wine thing myself. Hehe. So proof of pudding right here.

ASKA is the first server I wanted to run, so it hurts quite a bit - I’ve tried and installed another game server, and that one worked immediately out of the box, so it’s definitely not an AMP installation / core issue.

I’d really appreciate any help you can offer.
Sounds to me either the install / start script is missing something, maybe the ASKA devs borked something up. It really doesn’t help that the ASKA logs are so vague. They also seemingly yoinked the “official” google drive based server setup guide, so that’s helpful. Maybe they have changed something up…?

PS, I submitted this ticket originally via AMP, and it went to the void.
Perhaps handle discourse rejected topic creations in AMP & force the user to login to discourse before starting to write the ticket in AMP.

Ta!
Gabe,
Brand new owner of an AMP licence

Hello there, I have the exact same problem with ASKA but in windows, i have like 6 servers running smoothly. Just installed today ASKA and port 7780 remains to not listening. tried all the possible combinations and i know it is something in AMP because all my other servers from steam are running great.

Thanx in advance.
Pino

ASKA uses steam networking, so doesn’t open a socket on the game port

There are heaps of guides online as to how to join an ASKA server - in-game, Mulitplayer, Join, select right server region, find server in list, connect

If home hosting, you will need port forwarding and NAT hairpin enabled

@Greelan, please bare in mind that we’re both following instructions provided by AMP, and we were receiving an error message.

Havings spent a bit more time on this today, the issue entirely lies on both ASKA’s server browser being hilariously bad, and it not getting updates frequently enough.

Yes the built in AMP connect link is broken and will not work. In a way the problem is that we’re getting mixed information - I’d reckon AMP should recognise that it can’t generate connection links for ASKA.

At the end booting the server, waiting nearly 15 minutes, and then browsing manually through 45 pages of servers in the ASKA client resulted in me finding the server, and I can confirm it’s working as intended.

I’m going to now go over to the ASKA forums because this is definitely the worst experience I’ve ever had in joining a server.

You’re right, the link is misleading, I have removed it from the template
