PLEASE ALLOW LOCAL BACKUP

Problem Description

Issue

I don’t want to pay for more services to back up a file that I could have stored on a raid on my local machine. YOUR CURRENT BACKUP WILL NOT ALLOW FOR LOCAL BACKUP. This is stupid. I have set a schedule and manually used backup in the past NOTHING EXISTS. This is BS, good on you for having S3 backup, but did anyone ask, IDK maybe the people that run servers might have their own preferred local backup solution.

Ancillary gripe, I can’t scroll in your ticket feature, its 2 lines thick, and it skips lines when I scroll. WTF.

Reproduction Steps

  • Used backup
  • Backup failed.
  • Tried again
  • repeated, and wrote a ticket.

Can you post the exact message you’re seeing please, because what you’ve said doesn’t make a huge amount of sense.

Under backups in the Ark SA instance the menu has no backups, I scheduled backups once per day, server has been on for 21 days, I manually have backed up the server, but there are no backups on the page, There is a revert button should there be backups, but their are no backups under the backup tab in Amp manager.

After a bit of hunting through various files, pay dirt, the files are made under saved arks / [map name]_ WP/ (individual files each named with a time stamp at end of the file name, along with tribe info and player id files). But they are not seen by AMP, rather they are just files, that you have to edit names to load. Any backup has to become [map name]_WP with nothing after wp to load. So what’s the point of the backup page and buttons, along with file info and a restore button, if none of the files are ever in the backup tab?

I mean I am glad that I can backup, and I can run a Raid config for my own data security, but why does none of this work by default, and instead I am directed to use cloud service backups IF I want to use backups. Which apparently is not true or accurate. To be precise the page does backups, but it does not track them, nor does it restore them, nor does it schedule backups… very confusing.

Can you show us your schedule for taking backups? AMP backups are completely separate from anything you’ll see in the games directory structure.
