ARK Instances not broadcasting after update

OS Name/Version: Windows Server 2019 (1809) 17763.3046

Product Name/Version: (Always use the full version number - not ‘Latest’)

AMP 2.3.4.0

Problem Description:

When updating AMP and restarting machine, ARK Query/Game ports are no longer being activated. RCon ports and SFTP ports are connectable, but searching in Steam > Servers or via in-game menu shows no games.

Rcon console is running on both AMP and RCon client, leading to believe that the game is running. Looking at the launch logs, everything has launched correctly from the game log standing point. When running --showinstanceports I see:

C:\Windows\system32>ampinstmgr --showinstanceports Fjordur
[Info] AMP Instance Manager v2.3.4 built 16/06/2022 16:35
[Info] Release spec: Release - built by CUBECODERS/buildbot on CCL-DEV
[Info] Port usage for Fjordur (Fjordur)
[Info] Instance is currently running.
[Info] LISTENING 8093 TCP (Core.Webserver.Port)
[Info] LISTENING 2236 TCP (FileManagerPlugin.SFTP.SFTPPortNumber)
[Info] LISTENING 7799 UDP (ARKModule.Network.GamePort)
[Info] LISTENING 27026 UDP (ARKModule.Network.QueryPort)
[Info] LISTENING 34208 TCP (ARKModule.Network.RCONPort)

When looking in Windows Firewall, this is shown as well, being enabled for the rule to allow connections.

We do have a couple of Minecraft servers running using this same ADS and they are connecting just fine to clients and vice versa.

Steps to reproduce:

Step 1: Close amp instances
Step 2: Run ampinstmgr upgradeall
Step 3: Since major release - follow windows instance manager update on wiki
Step 4: Reboot machine and start ARK instance
Step 5: Attempt to find server in Steam> Servers or in-game server list
Step6: Verify open ports using multiple websites like canyouseeme.org/portchecker.co

Actions taken to resolve so far:

-Validated ADS instance install
-Validated all instances
-Started instance that the game was up-to-date prior to AMP update.
-Started instance that was a previous version and remained previous after AMP update.
-Started instance that was a previous version, then updated after AMP update.
-Added TCP Game/Query ports to instance and restarted the instance, confirmed the new ports were in Windows Firewall.
-Restarted entire server 3x
-Ran Windows Update
-Manually configured firewall rules that duplicated existing rules from AMP to allow (then removed)
**Working on creating an entirely new instance with no customization (except Server name and Password)
-Set up new instance with only Server Name and Password set.

Can you share your AMP Lop from a time you started the server?

Sure! Not sure if I can put it all in here, but I’ll try. This is the first one (Game that was running updated prior to AMP update):

I can share the one of the brand new instance too, but not much is different.

Hi, did you verify it is the same version as your client? I had the same issue, I seemed to have an issue with the main game vs the workshop items updating, once I remove the WS items, I was able to update the server to 346.14 and it showed in my game (I guess different version do not show in the server browser). Also, I had to manually move the WS items to my server as they were not getting updated. Check your /376030 folder for the version.txt to make sure what version your server is on… It was also asking me for a login when I updated, when it should just be using “anonymous”. Something seem up with the updating for Ark…

It sounds like you might have setup the workshop items incorrectly by using the input under SteanCMD and Updates tab. Remove them from there and it shouldn’t prompt you to login. That’s for some other games, not ARK.

I don’t see anything odd in there. From the same network what do you see when you go to Steam’s server list (not in-game) and use the LAN IP and port 27026?

I have verified that they are running the same version, 346.14. The server that I provided the log details for (fjordur map/instance) was on version 346.14 before the AMP upgrade from 2.3.3.0 to 2.3.4.0 and it was running fine.

I haven’t had any issues with mods downloading, and when checking the start log of the servers they start fine. When checking on battlemetrics.com / arkservers.net they do not show as live. This would also correlate with the new instance that does not have mods, says it is running fine and is still not showing as the query/game ports are not being broadcasted despite amp/firewall saying they are.

Again, I can RCON to the server and see that the server is indeed running and RCON commands succeed. Also utilizing an ARK admin tool, I can verify that the game time is indeed progressing after saving the world and checking the time via the map.ark file.

*Using LAN:port within steam server list unfortunately does the same thing with saying that there is no active game/server at that address. When looking in-game LAN menu, no games are displayed there either.
